On Saturday 14th October at the Fantasy Dome, La-Trade Fair Centre, self-acclaimed king of dancehall music in Africa, Shatta Wale launched his much anticipated Reign album; a 17-songs strong collection that topped the World Chart on iTunes on the day it was released.

The version that was launched at the Fantasy Dome was the first of it’s kind in Ghana—designed to be in tune with the times, it had a storage device replacing the usual CDs. Cool!

A notable surprise for the launch was when Ghanaian comedian and television personality, Derrick Kobina Bone known widely as DKB who has been supportive of the dancehall king prior to the launch of the the Reign album was called on stage to aid in the auctioning of the first copy of the album. The album was being sold for GHC100,000 but to their and everyone else’s surprise, a young couple who goes by the name Mr and Mrs Sleg announced that they will buy the first copy of the Reign album for more than the amount it was being sold for. They told the crowd amidst cheers and jubilation that they will pay GHC150,000 because Shatta Wale deserves more than GHC100,000. This left Wale, DKB and most fans speechless. We are speechless too.

The Reign Album has 17 tracks including Gringo, I Regret and My Mind is Made Up.

Well as we all know, it won’t be a Shatta Wale event without controversy. Several issues are coming up after the Reign Concert which has raised the brows of many Ghanaians.

Here is an update:

Refused a surprise performance

Legendary dancehall artiste, Samini Dagaati, in a Tweet Monday morning, while congratulating Shatta Wale made a startling revelation that he and Stonebwoy were not allow to pull a surprise performance at the Reign Concert as a way of showing their support to their Shatta Wale in light of the #SupportYourOwn campaign Shatta Wale and DKB started—irony.

The tweet read “Congrats @shattawalegh on your album launch. Just like you once wanted to surprise me on saminifest and l let you, l had wanted to do the same but l waited in the car together with @stonebwoy for over an hour only to be told you refused the geature. #supportyourown huh???”

Congrats @shattawalegh on your album launch.just like you once wanted to surprise me on saminifest stage and I let you, I’d wanted to do the same but I waited in the car together with @stonebwoyb for over an hour only to be told you refused the gesture. #supportourown huh??😂🤦🏾‍♂️

In a response, Shatta Wale said, he was never told about this and apologized but fans were quick to point out that Wale asked on stage whether he should allow Samini and Stonebwoy to perform.

The ‘Most Original’ singer, Stonebwoy in his tweet added his voice to Samini’s claim laying emphasis on the fact that a surprise performance is better that a tweet if you want unity and cohesion in the music industry—an apparent dig at Wale. He also took the opportunity to announce his Ashaiman to da World Concert which will be coming off on 27th October, 2018.

Surprise Support is Way Better Than. A Fake Twit. But For INSECURITY Problems 😂🤣🤣!!
You Refused To Take advantage of The Opportunity.Would You Have Asked The Crowed if you Weren’t AWARE. Why Lie? Feel Free 😂

Made up or paparazzi?

Again, interesting questions are being asked about Shatta Wale and his baby mama, Shatta Michy especially after Wale in what was arguably the biggest surprise of the night, proposed to Michy at the Reign Concert. Shatta Wale went on his knees on stage during the concert (can you believe that) to ask Michy to marry him and guess what, she said “YES”.

Fans are eager to know whether Michy and Wale are back together or are just co-parenting as is being speculated on social media. It is quite clear that these two are back together but we wait to see whether it’s to pose for the cameras and defuse the tension Sarkodie’s Advice brought to Wale’s brand or they genuinely want to get married and build their family.

Photos of Shatta Wale and his Michy kissing and cuddling during the Reign Concert are spreading on social media like wild fire.
