In a short statement posted on the Ghana Police Service’s Facebook Page, the Police Administration has clarified that the officers seen in a video that went viral on several social media platforms of police officers assaulting an Uber driver were community police assistants and not officers of the Ghana Police Service.

The incident occurred at Sowutuom last Saturday around Pentecost University.

According to the release by the Ghana Police Service,  “the said Uber driver, has lodged a formal complaint at the Sowutuom Police station and the incident is being investigated”

“So far, investigation revealed that the said Officers have been identified as Community Police Assistant, (CPA) and not Police Officers. They are however, assisting investigation.”
