Before sliding into the DMs of Matt Cardle, Meghan Markle could have ended up with Ashley Cole, Lizzie Cundy revealed during ITV’s This Morning Show.
The former Suits star finally got her fairy tale ending with Prince Harry and their newborn baby, Archie, after coming to London on the hunt for a new boyfriend. Well done, Megs.
‘I didn’t know who Meghan was,’ Liz told hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford. ‘This was before Harry, a few years before Harry, and they said, “Lizzie, will you sit next to this girl, she doesn’t know anyone in London”. I was like, “Who is she? I haven’t got a clue.”’
‘We got on like a house on fire,’ insisted Lizzie. ‘She was so funny, really loved London and she wanted to find a boyfriend.
‘I did actually say, “Do you like footballers?” So I gave her my phone and Ashley Cole because he’d just split up with Cheryl and they look kind of similar. I was getting that together, I was making the call to Ashley. He was like, “Who is she?”’
Lizzie’s shocker comes after it was revealed Meghan chatted up X Factor winner Matt Cardle just months before meeting her prince when he started following her on Instagram.
‘Matt couldn’t believe a Hollywood star like Meghan would even know who he was so he was very flattered and they chatted a little bit online before she suggested meeting up,’ a source close to Matt claimed, alleging that Meghan was in London at the time.
But the singer then met his girlfriend Amber Hernaman and ‘ghosted’ Meghan.
‘It felt like there could have been a connection but the timing was wrong. He didn’t reply to her last message,’ the insider told The Sun.
