Black Stars to face Tunisia in Round of 16 encounter after beating Guinea Bissau to top Group F

The Black Stars of Ghana has finished Group F in the first position after beating Guinea Bissau 2-0 in the final group match with 5 points and 2 goals difference. Cameroon finished 2nd place with 5 points and 2 goals difference as well.

Ghana’s position means the Black Stars will face the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in a round-of-16-encounter that will be one of the most tipped games of the tournament.

The Carthage Eagles narrowly finished second place in Group E after drawing in all three(3) group matches. Group E winners, Mali, will be playing Ivory Coast in the round-of-16 matchup.

Ghana and Tunisia are traditionally known as rivals when it comes to football so this encounter will not be easy for both sides as Ghana hopes to make it to the finals of this year’s tournament.

The performance of the Stars in the opening game gave fans little hope of making it out of the group let alone top the group but football being the unpredictable game it is, does pull surprises even in the most dramatic circumstances.

Ghanaians are eager to see the Black Stars lift the most prestigious cup in African football after 37 years of drought.

This story has been updated to correct an earlier assertion that the Stars were playing the Barea of Mauritania next and the wrongful characterization of the round-of-16 as quarter-finals.

We are sorry for the mixup.
