Ghana Police to show public how to enhance personal security in live interactive chat

The Ghana Police service is about to live-stream a session with ACP David Eklu, the Director General of Public Affairs at the Police Headquarters. The tweet announcing the live-stream characterizes the session as an interactive chat with the public relations boss of the Police Service.

“2 days more! Time with the Police – How to enhance your personal security. We will be bringing you a live interactive chat with ACP Mr. David Eklu – Dir. Gen Public Affairs Directorate on Tuesday, July 09th, 2019 at 11 am.” The official twitter handle of the Police Service tweeted on Sunday.

It is clear from the tweet that the focus of the live-streaming session is “Personal Security”, a theme the IGP himself floated in a recent speech and urged Ghanaians to take seriously. The fact that the Police Service is making that the focus of live-stream and it runs as the main theme of dozens of police tweets this year means it’s something the Police Service is very much interested in pushing.

The Ghana Police Service has been using social media to educate and inform the general public in a remarkable fashion. The effectiveness of the police social media use warranted an award at the just-ended Ghana Information Technology and Telecom Awards. This was the second time the Police Service won the category of Best Government Use of Social Media (Citizen Engagement).
