President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says he’s “shocked and saddened” by the news of the murder of Hon. Ekow Quansah Hayford, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantseman Constituency.

He has directed the Ghana Police Service and allied security agencies to investigate and bring the murderers to book.

I am shocked and saddened by news of the murder of the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman, Hon. Ekow Kwansa Hayford, by suspected armed robbers in the early hours of this morning. It is a sad day for Mfantseman and for Mother Ghana. 1/4 pic.twitter.com/waOOC7mm5r

The MP was murdered by armed thugs on Friday dawn on the Abeadze Dominase–Abeadze Duadzi–Mankessim road.

The MP and some executives of the NPP were returning from a campaign trip when the incident occurred.

The opposition NDC has added their voice to calls for the police and security agencies to arrest the growing insecurity in the country post-COVID.
