According to the Ghana News Agency, narcotic substances estimated at GH¢50 million were destroyed by the Narcotic Control Board (NACOB).

The burning of approximately 50,000 kilograms (kg) of cannabis was impounded between 2021 and 2023 mainly from the Volta and Eastern Regions of Ghana.

The exercise was done in the presence of officials from the Judiciary, Ghana Police Service (GPS) the Ghana Standard Authority (GSA), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under close supervision by the military.

Officials from the GSA tested the drugs to confirm if they were the actual drugs intercepted, after which they were set ablaze.

With its three main functions supervised by the Interior Ministry, NACOB is responsible for the enforcement and controlling of narcotic control laws, education, and prevention of the use of such products and treatment, rehabilitation, and social re-integration of narcotics addicts.

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has destroyed 50,000kg of cannabis estimated at GH₵50 million.
