Chris Hughton, a former manager of Newcastle United and Brighton, has been named the Black Stars’ head coach.
He previously served as the team’s technical advisor for the Qatar-hosted World Cup in 2022.
Hughton will take charge of the team in Otto Addo’s absence, with the assistance of assistant coaches George Boateng and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.
GFA announced that Chris Hughton had been chosen as the Black Stars’ head coach after extensive deliberations between the two parties.
“The appointment is in accordance with the GFA’s aim to carry on the effort to assemble a strong team that was begun with Otto Addo in the run-up to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 competition.
GFA also decided to retain Assistant Coaches Mas-Ud Didi Dramani and George Boateng.
“The three coaches were members of the technical squad for the World Cup in Qatar.
“Further information regarding the length of the contract and the engagement terms will be made public when appropriate.
Hughton has a lot riding on his shoulders as he attempts to lead the team to greater heights following a lackluster showing at the 2022 World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations.
