Berekum Chelsea, a team in the Ghana Premier League, has received advice from the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, encouraging players, coaches, management, and the technical team to embrace discipline and hard effort in order to succeed.
He said this after last Friday when he hosted a group from the club, led by the general manager, Mr. Husseni Burhanu Alfa, at his home in the Accra suburb of Fadama.
“I’m glad to have met the entire team today. When my grandson (Alfa) told me about the visit, I did not hesitate and told him to come with his team when they are ready.
“As footballers, there is the need to stay disciplined and work hard in your career; give out your best on and off the field and never cease praying. Hard work and perseverance should be your hallmark,” he insisted.
Sheikh Sharubutu encouraged the team to overcome whatever difficulties they may face and praised them for their tireless efforts and accomplishments.
He promised the team his unwavering support and counseled them to keep their attention and resolve.
The Imam took advantage of the occasion to pray specifically for the club’s leading scorer Mezack Afriyie, head coach Christopher Ennin, and captain Zakaria Fuseini.
The courtesy visit, according to Mr. Alfa, was made in order to ask for blessings and intercessory prayer for the entire team as the season progresses, not because of their game against Hearts of Oak.
“Our visit here was not because of our game with Hearts, but because of my relationship with Sheikh. When I spoke to him about my visit, he asked me to come with my team to seek Allah’s blessings,” he explained.
Hearts defeated Berekum Chelsea 3-1 in a tense match on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium, dropping the Biribies to 10th place in the league standings with 22 points after 17 games.
