  • Ghana’s star boy Mohammed Kudus powered in a low shot past Egyptian goalkeeper Ahmed Elshewani in the third minute of first half added time
  • The pressure on the Black Stars was very intense with the Egyptian seeking to pull parity.
  • Inaki William made a costly mistake in the 68th minute as his back pass gifted Omar Marmoush a sight at goal and the striker capitalised on it.
  • Mohammed Kudus stepped up and curled in a low strike just two minute later with the 20,000 fans chanting his name
  • The celebrations couldn’t last long as another mistake from substitute Osman Bukari gave Mostapha Abdella an opening for a second equalizer

In the aftermath of the crucial Black Stars game against Egypt, emotions have run high among fans, particularly on social media. The source of their frustration stems from perceived shortcomings, with two players, Inaki Williams, and Osman Bukari, facing criticism for what some fans have dubbed “gifts” to Egypt.

Inaki Williams, known for his athleticism and goal-scoring abilities, is facing backlash for a back pass that resulted in Egypt’s first equalizer. Fans took to Twitter and Facebook to express their frustration, highlighting the specific moment Inaki gave away a goal to Egypt on a silver platter.

This is the through pass that will most certainly cost Inaki Williams his place in the Black Stars

Similarly, Bukari, another player in the spotlight, received criticism for what fans deemed a defensive lapse that led to Egypt’s second equalizer. The disappointment is palpable among the Black Stars faithful, who know that this was Ghana’s game to lose.

In addition to individual player criticisms, discussions about team strategy and coaching decisions emerged. Some fans questioned the tactics employed during the match, contributing to the overall discontent among the Black Stars’ passionate following.

However, it is essential to note that football is a dynamic sport where outcomes are influenced by numerous factors, including the performance of the opposing team and the unpredictable nature of the game. Despite the frustration expressed by fans, others urged for a balanced perspective, emphasizing the need for continued support and constructive criticism rather than outright condemnation.

Michael Oti Adjei believes the back pass in itself wasn’t a bad idea but awareness

As the social media storm continues, it remains to be seen how the Black Stars and the individual players involved will respond to the outpouring of emotions from their fan base. The passionate nature of football fandom is an integral part of the sport, and as the team navigates through challenges, the support and critique from fans will likely continue to shape the narrative surrounding the Black Stars’ journey on and off the field.
