Gary Nimako, the Director of Legal Affairs for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has confirmed for the first time that there are only three court cases involving the party’s parliamentary primaries, which are scheduled for Saturday, January 27, 2024.

Comparatively, there were roughly 46 court cases during the previous parliamentary primary, and Gary Nimako stated that handling that many cases was a significant concern for the party. The fact that there aren’t as many court cases this year delights him.

Nimako, who was appointed as the party’s first legal director in October 2022, said that the only court cases the party is dealing with in this year’s primary are in Akuapem South, Mampong, and Agona West. He said that the party is aware of these cases and is working to resolve them amicably.

He also said that the party has not received any official report of court cases from Obuasi West and Binduri, where some aggrieved aspirants have allegedly filed a suit.

Nimako assured that the party is prepared to conduct free and fair primaries in all the 105 approved voting centers, and urged the aspirants and delegates to respect the rules and regulations of the party. He also appealed to the media and the public to support the party in its quest to retain power in the 2024 general elections.
