In his message, President Akufo-Addo commended the party for upholding democratic values and the rule of law throughout the process. He emphasized that the NPP has once again demonstrated to the Ghanaian people that it is the party of democracy and inclusivity.
“I extend warm congratulations to the rank and file of the party and applaud all stakeholders—the national, regional, constituency, electoral area, polling station executives of the party, the Electoral Commission, the security services, and the media—for a job well done,” President Akufo-Addo stated.
The president highlighted the time-tested tradition of unity within the NPP, emphasizing the importance of supporting the victors and maintaining cohesion within the party. He urged party members to rally behind the excellent presidential candidate and formidable parliamentary candidates, stressing the need for unity to secure victory in the upcoming elections.
“We have elected a good blend of experienced and youthful parliamentary candidates, whom I warmly congratulate and who, I am confident, will help secure a majority for the NPP in the ninth Parliament of the 4th Republic,” the president stated optimistically.
President Akufo-Addo called on those who were not successful at the polls to remember that elections have winners and losers, emphasizing that today’s losers can be tomorrow’s winners. He urged all true-blue party members to uphold the Danquah-Dombo-Busia political tradition, describing it as the greatest, most enduring, and noblest political tradition in Ghanaian politics.
“The Danquah-Dombo-Busia political tradition was founded to fight foreign domination of our country and domestic tyranny of our state. Let us stay the course, conduct ourselves well before the Ghanaian people, strengthen our organization, and win the 2024 elections,” President Akufo-Addo concluded, reiterating the symbol of the elephant as the winning emblem of the NPP.
