Award-winning broadcaster Berla Mundi is set to host, for the second time, the 66th Grammy’s African Nominee Brunch, the official side event of the 66th Grammy Awards. Scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on February 3, 2024, the brunch promises to be a star-studded affair with prominent figures from the African music industry.
In the previous edition last year, Berla Mundi successfully steered the event, engaging with notable personalities like South Africa’s Nomcebo Zikode and Ghana’s Rocky Dawuni, who were in attendance for the brunch. This year’s edition, organized by GUBA and spearheaded by Lady Dentaa Amoateng MBE, has unveiled an impressive lineup of guests, including Nigeria’s Davido, South African Amapiano sensation Musa Keys, and British-Ghanaian record producer Juls baby.
Berla Mundi expressed her excitement about hosting the prestigious event for the second time on Instagram, stating, “looking forward to this” in response to GUBA’s announcement. Among the notable Ghanaians confirmed to attend the event are EMY’s founder, Kojo Soboh, rapper Gambo, and music producer Juls.
Lady Dentaa Amoateng, MBE, assured attendees that the African Nominee event, set to take place at Spring Place in Beverly Hills, will be an “unforgettable experience” with Berla at the helm. The event is expected to serve as a prelude to the main Grammy Awards night, offering a platform for networking and celebration within the African music community.
African artists nominated for the 66th Grammys, including Burna Boy, Davido, Ayra Starr, and South Africa’s Tyla, are among the standout contenders for awards on February 5, 2024. Burna Boy has received four nominations, including Best Melodic Rap Performance, Best Global Music Album, Best Global Music Performance, and Best African Music Performance. Davido secured three nominations, and new entrants Asake, Olamide, Ayra Starr, and Tyla are making their mark in the newly introduced Best African Performance category.
