Several Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) in Ghana have raised the prices of petroleum products at their service stations, with the latest increases coming in the second pricing window of October 2024. Allied Oil led the charge on October 16, 2024, selling a litre of petrol for GH₵12.73 and diesel for GH₵13.73, representing a slight rise compared to prices at the beginning of the month.
Shell followed suit with a more significant hike, raising petrol prices by 7%, now selling at GH₵14.72 per litre. Diesel prices at Shell increased by 4.45%, reaching GH₵14.99 per litre.
Market leader Goil announced its price adjustments on October 17, 2024, while Star Oil, the second-largest OMC, also raised its prices, with petrol now at GH₵13.99 per litre—an increase of more than 7%—and diesel at GH₵14.19, a 3.42% rise.
The rise in fuel prices reflects a broader trend of fluctuating global oil prices and market conditions. Consumers are urged to plan accordingly as these adjustments take effect across the country.
