The brainchild of the late iconic Ghanaian playwright, Efo Kodjo Mawugbe, You Play Me, I Play You has been brought to life under the expert direction of Fiifi Coleman, featuring notable performers Jeneral Ntatia, Clemento Suarez, and Nigeria’s Brain Jotter. This socio-cultural satire takes the audience on a humorous journey that delves into the heart of Ghanaian and Nigerian cultural dynamics, exploring themes of unity, rivalry, and identity.
Kofi Adinkra, founder of AAN, highlighted the project as a milestone in AAN’s mission to unify and celebrate African diversity. “Our goal is to build a platform for African artists to not only entertain but to engage audiences in meaningful cultural dialogue,” Adinkra said. “This production is a powerful example of the kind of collaboration that can bridge cultures and share unique perspectives through storytelling.”
Director Fiifi Coleman, a well-respected figure in Ghanaian theatre, shared his enthusiasm for the production, noting, “This play transcends comedy—it’s a celebration of African unity through shared experiences. The synergy of the Ghanaian and Nigerian cast is incredible, and the portrayal of cultural dynamics will resonate with audiences of all backgrounds.”
Coleman further noted that You Play Me, I Play You serves as more than entertainment, aiming to promote understanding between the two nations. “Our hope is that audiences come away laughing, but also reflecting on the power of unity in diversity.”
