A 16-year-old suspect involved in a fatal accident at East Legon, Accra, has been remanded into custody by the Accra Juvenile and Family Court. The accident, which occurred on October 12, 2024, resulted in the tragic loss of two lives. The juvenile driver, identified as Elrad Salifu Amoako, the son of prominent religious leader Bishop Salifu Amoako, was presented before the court on November 1, 2024, facing eight charges, including manslaughter.

Following the hearing, the court ordered that the juvenile be held at a correctional center until the next appearance scheduled for November 7, 2024. Additionally, the court instructed that the suspect’s travel documents be deposited with the court, likely to prevent any attempts to leave the country.

The Ghana Police Service has been actively involved in the investigation and is expected to continue providing updates on the case. This development has sparked widespread discussions on road safety, the accountability of young drivers, and the impact of family background on legal proceedings in Ghana.
