Mastercard has announced the opening of its first office in Accra, Ghana, marking a significant milestone in its expansion within West Africa. This strategic move highlights Mastercard’s commitment to fostering Ghana’s digital economy by providing innovative financial products and tailored solutions to the market.
The establishment of a physical presence in Ghana aims to deepen collaborations with stakeholders and drive inclusive growth in the region. The new office will serve as a hub for Mastercard to better address the specific needs of Ghanaian customers and contribute to the nation’s evolving financial landscape.

Ghana, with a GDP per capita of USD $2,238 in 2023 and growing sectors like agriculture, mining, and digital infrastructure, presents a ripe opportunity for Mastercard’s expansion. The Accra office joins Mastercard’s network of locations across Africa, including Cairo, Casablanca, Johannesburg, Lagos, Nairobi, and Mauritius, reinforcing its commitment to driving sustainable digital transformation across the continent.
