The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has officially launched the 2025 DV plate, which is now available at all DVLA offices across the country. The new plate comes with enhanced security features aimed at preventing counterfeiting and ensuring a more secure vehicle registration and licensing system in Ghana. The DVLA emphasized that this initiative aligns with its commitment to improving road safety and regulatory compliance.
According to the DVLA, the 2025 DV plate incorporates advanced security measures such as holograms, watermarks, and QR codes. These features are designed to authenticate the plates and make it difficult for counterfeiters to duplicate them. The inclusion of these technologies is expected to boost confidence in the vehicle registration process and enhance law enforcement efforts.
Chief Executive of the DVLA, Mr. Julius Neequaye Kotey, expressed his excitement about the new plate, describing it as a major step forward in the modernization of vehicle registration in Ghana. “The 2025 DV plate represents a significant improvement in vehicle licensing, demonstrating our commitment to leveraging technology for security and convenience,” he stated.
The DVLA also reassured vehicle owners, automobile dealers, distributors, freight forwarders, and agents that the new plates are readily available at all operational DVLA offices nationwide. Starting January 30, 2025, individuals and businesses can acquire the new DV plates without hassle, ensuring a smooth transition from previous versions.
To further safeguard the integrity of the system, the DVLA is working closely with the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service. This partnership aims to crack down on the use of counterfeit DV plates and apprehend those involved.
