The Office of the Igbo Community Leader in Ghana, His Royal Highness Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu (Eze Ohazurume I of Ndigbo), has firmly denied circulating claims that he or the Igbo leadership in Ghana have acquired 50 acres of land in Ningo, Greater Accra Region, to establish an “Igbo Village.”
In a press release issued today by the Head of Communications at the Eze Igbo Palace Ghana, Mr. Ronney Gogo, the community stated unequivocally that no such land acquisition has taken place. The release addressed rumors that emerged from a 2013 interview with Crystal TV, following Eze Ihenetu’s coronation in 2012.
“The plans discussed in that interview never materialized due to complications over land ownership,” the statement clarified. “These plans were cancelled as far back as 2014, and no land has since been earmarked for an ‘Igbo Village.’”
Eze Ihenetu, a long-time resident of Ghana since 1995 and husband to a Ghanaian businesswoman, has reiterated his respect for the laws, culture, and people of Ghana. The statement emphasized his commitment to peaceful coexistence and legal compliance, values he consistently promotes within the Igbo community.
The Office cautioned the public against spreading misinformation and reaffirmed that there are currently no intentions or actions toward creating an autonomous Igbo enclave anywhere in Ghana.
