The Ministry of Health has confirmed the disbursement of GHS 462 million in training allowances to over 120,000 nursing students across Ghana. This allowance covers a six-month period and fulfills a key campaign promise made by President John Dramani Mahama.
Payments began today and are scheduled to continue until next Friday, marking a major step in the government’s effort to support the education and welfare of future healthcare professionals. The Ministry emphasized that the initiative forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen Ghana’s health sector by investing in critical human capital.
“This development demonstrates our ongoing commitment to improving the welfare of nursing trainees,” the Ministry stated, noting the allowance serves both as a relief to students and a motivation to pursue excellence in healthcare service.
The Ministry expressed its gratitude to President Mahama for honoring his commitment, and acknowledged the efforts of all stakeholders who facilitated the timely release and distribution of the funds.
