The Accra Regional Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into violent incidents and assaults that occurred during the Ablekuma North Parliamentary re-run held on Friday, 11th July 2025.

The Police confirmed that they are currently reviewing multiple video recordings from polling stations to identify individuals involved in the acts of violence. Statements from victims, complainants, and eyewitnesses have also been obtained to support the ongoing investigations.

In a significant development, the Police disclosed that one of their own officers—seen in a viral video assaulting a journalist—has been interdicted and is facing criminal charges for assault. Victims of the incidents have been provided with Police Medical Report Forms for treatment and documentation.

According to the Command, vital leads have been gathered and arrests are expected soon. The Police assured the public that all individuals involved in electoral violence, intimidation, or misconduct will be held accountable through lawful means.
