Ghana is in shock as news breaks of the death of Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba. The iconic highlife musician passed away earlier today, Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a brief illness. He was 60.
The announcement came in a statement from the Fosu family, signed by their legal counsel Fati Ali Yallah of Baba Jamal & Associates, and released through DL106.9 FM.
Described as more than just a musician, Daddy Lumba was a cultural icon whose music deeply shaped the Ghanaian soundscape. His distinctive voice and emotionally charged lyrics made him a favorite across generations, providing the soundtrack to the lives of millions.
“In this time of immense loss, we respectfully request privacy for the family and loved ones,” the statement read, noting that funeral details will be announced in the coming days.
