Kumawood legend Agya Koo has fired back at fellow actor Kwadwo Nkansah “Lil Win” after the latter poked fun at him in a recent radio interview, calling him “Ohene Dada” (old king) and suggesting he is no longer relevant in the movie scene.
Lil Win had claimed that Agya Koo has transitioned from acting to live band music and podcasting, implying that the veteran actor’s reign in Kumawood has ended. But Agya Koo responded with a mix of humor and pride, asserting that his career evolution is a mark of versatility, not decline.
“I’ve transitioned to live band and I’m loving it,” Agya Koo said. “You’re also making music, and I’m proud to have inspired many actors and actresses, including you. Just that you make noise on beat like some Bantama kwenkwen seller.”
The celebrated actor reminded Lil Win of his iconic contribution to Ghana’s movie industry, recalling an era when his films dominated local screens.
“You claim your time is now? Nigerian movies weren’t widely accepted in Ghana back in my day, but my movies were the talk of the town,” he stated. “You’re chasing recognition in Nigeria, yet you’re claiming to be the king? Keep pushing the boundaries of art and then stop making noise, Actor Kwame.”
The friendly yet pointed exchange has sparked buzz among Kumawood fans, reigniting debates about the generational shift between industry veterans and new stars.
While Lil Win continues to enjoy current fame with his movies and music, Agya Koo’s response reminds many that his legendary status in Kumawood history remains unshaken.
