The Creative Arts Agency has issued an official invitation for the upcoming Global Candlelight Vigil in memory of Ghana’s highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, while cautioning the public to disregard earlier versions of the invitation circulating in the media.
According to the Agency, unofficial invitations had been shared on social media, creating confusion about the event. The CAA stressed that the current notice is the only authentic communication and urged all attendees to refer to it for accurate details of the solemn memorial.
The National Candlelight Vigil will take place on Saturday, 2nd August 2025, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Independence Square in Accra, with a corresponding event in Kumasi. It forms part of a global tribute that will also be observed in Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Netherlands.
Mr. Gideon Aryeequaye, Acting Executive Secretary of the CAA, emphasized that honoring Daddy Lumba requires a unified and respectful approach.
“Please note that any earlier versions of this invitation currently circulating were not officially released by the Creative Arts Agency. This is the official communication regarding the vigil,” the release stated.
The Agency has invited the public, fans, and industry stakeholders to RSVP by Wednesday, 31st July 2025, to confirm participation and join in celebrating the life and enduring musical legacy of Daddy Lumba.
