Fire Guts Accra Tourist Information Center, Rockz Waakye Gone

A Sunday blaze razed parts of the Accra Tourist Information Center, including the popular Rockz Waakye eatery run by Reggie Rockstone and his wife. The couple says they are safe and will return soon.

Fire broke out on Sunday night at the Accra Tourist Information Center, destroying the popular food outlet Rockz Waakye, run by Ghanaian music legend Reggie Rockstone and his wife.

Initially reported as only “partly affected,” Rockstone later confirmed that their establishment was completely destroyed in the blaze. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Firefighters responded swiftly with at least five fire tenders to contain the fire, which had engulfed large parts of the facility by the time they arrived. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

In a message shared after the incident, Reggie Rockstone offered reassurance to fans and supporters: “A GOOD MORNING AND A BAD NIGHT BUT WE ARE ALL ALRIGHT SO WE GIVE THANKS AMEN. WE WILL GET BACK TO YOU ON ALL. BLESS U.”

Due to the damage, the couple announced there will be no waakye served today, but assured the public that they will be back soon.

The Accra Tourist Information Center, a creative and cultural hub in the capital, is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. Sunday night’s fire marks a significant loss for the tourism and creative industry community.
