A Nigerian national known for dealing in mobile phones and accessories was discovered dead early this morning under the Kasoa overpass. The incident, shrouded in mystery, has prompted suspicions of poisoning and raised questions about safety in one of Ghana’s fastest-growing urban hubs.

The deceased, whose identity has not yet been publicly disclosed pending family notification, was a familiar figure in the Kasoa area. According to reports, he had complained of excruciating stomach pains the previous night after consuming a meal, only for his lifeless body to be found at dawn by passersby and local residents.

Nash Nyande Adams, the Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) for Awutu Senya East, confirmed the grim discovery in an interview with Adom News. “He complained of stomach pains last night, but this morning we found him dead under the overpass,” Mr. Adams stated, emphasizing the suddenness of the tragedy.

Friends and associates of the deceased, who gathered at the scene in disbelief, voiced strong suspicions of foul play. “He was fine earlier, but after eating, the pains started. It looks like someone poisoned him,” one anonymous friend told reporters, echoing sentiments shared by others at the site. While the exact cause of death remains unknown, the possibility of ingesting a poisonous substance has not been ruled out. The body was promptly removed and deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary for a thorough autopsy, as authorities seek to unravel the circumstances surrounding his demise.

This incident comes amid growing concerns about safety in Kasoa, which has transformed into one of Ghana’s fastest-growing communities, attracting migrants from across the region, including a significant number of Nigerians. However, this growth has been accompanied by challenges. Spatial analyses of crime data in the area reveal patterns of theft, assault, and occasional violent incidents, often linked to economic disparities and overcrowding.

Residents are now demanding swift action from authorities to address these incidents and enhance security measures. As the investigation progresses, the Nigerian community in Kasoa has expressed grief and called for justice, highlighting the vulnerabilities faced by foreign nationals in Ghana’s informal economy.

Police have assured the public that all leads are being pursued, and they urge anyone with information to come forward. Updates will follow as more details emerge from the ongoing probe.
