President John Dramani Mahama will embark on an official two-country visit to Japan and Singapore, with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations, expanding trade and investment opportunities, and advancing cooperation on key development priorities.
In Japan, the President will participate in the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IX), where he will address a plenary session on promoting trade and investment in Africa. He is also scheduled to deliver remarks at the Ghana Presidential Investment Forum, highlighting Ghana’s investment climate and the Resetting Ghana agenda.
President Mahama will further engage in bilateral discussions with leading Japanese stakeholders, including the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), senior representatives of the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), and Japan’s Prime Minister, Shigeru Ishiba. The talks are expected to focus on trade, investment, technical cooperation, and infrastructure partnerships.
Following his engagements in Japan, the President will undertake a three-day state visit to Singapore. His itinerary will include a courtesy call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, a meeting with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, participation in the Africa-Singapore Business Forum, and an address at an investment forum to present Ghana’s reform priorities.
The visits are aimed at attracting investment into Ghana, broadening market access for Ghanaian products, mobilising development and technical cooperation, and deepening partnerships in technology, finance, infrastructure, and human capital development.
President Mahama and his delegation are expected to depart Accra on Sunday, 17 August 2025.
