The Nigerian film industry is in mourning following the passing of veteran Nollywood actor Fabian Adibe, who died in the early hours of Wednesday at the age of 82.
His death was confirmed by the Chief Executive Officer of Best Nollywood (BON), Seun Oloketuyi, who shared the news via social media.
“Things Fall Apart actor, Fabian Adibe, is dead. Died 2:30 am this morning,” Oloketuyi wrote.
Adibe, a respected figure in the Nigerian movie industry, was best known for his remarkable role in the screen adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s literary classic, Things Fall Apart. Throughout his decades-long career, he captivated audiences with his powerful performances in numerous Nollywood classics, earning admiration for his talent and dedication to storytelling.
Tributes have since poured in from colleagues, fans, and industry stakeholders, who described him as a “true legend” and a pioneer whose contributions helped shape Nollywood’s growth. Many have expressed their condolences to his family, remembering him not only as a gifted actor but also as a cultural icon.
