The scores of commendations for the new terminal at the Kotoka International Airport has gone through the roof.

It was to be expected but when Yvonne Nelson, Ghanaian actress and social media behemoth waded in with praise singing for former president John Mahama, we knew that hell will break lose—and it did.

Yvonne Nelson was hard on the Mahama administration during the days of power outages and the excruciating load-shedding that came to be known as dumsor. It was only fair that if she saw something good in the administration she went to war against, she made it public so the impression is not created that her stance then was personal.

She found the good she was looking for in Terminal 3 and tweeted that she was “Soooo impressed” by the work John Mahama did. She patted him on the back a little—fine, it was a lot, judging from subsequent tweets.

But this didn’t sit well with some Twitter users including the famous Mutombo, the Poet. Motumbo couldn’t understand for the love of God why Yvonne will credit an individual (scratch the part where he was President) with the construction of an Airport terminal.

ghana, not mahama…this be why we no dey go on. ghana gov do something, not a regime or a single person. sometimes we are our own enemies and the way we dey in the box, e go take a while. a long while! https://t.co/E9hAhPTA2O

Yvonne Nelson couldn’t be bothered as she showered more praises on the former president and commended his show of leadership.

“I can’t believe I’m still in Ghana!!!! Leadership should be all about this. I’m sooo impressed. Ghana deserves more.” She tweeted.

Some of the replies were obviously political and and others were merely opinionated views of people who believe politicians don’t deserve praise for doing what they were elected to do.

An example is this guy who thinks it wasn’t his personal funds that was used for the project so he doesn’t deserve praise:

And a political response that said if it’s our money like you claim, let Nana Addo use that same money to do something good too.

When it's good, it's govt & our money, but when it's bad, its @JDMahama. Why won't nana addo use that same money that belongs 2 us 2 do sometin good too? Is he living up 2 his responsibilities? It's true haters will always accuse u of generating dust even when u are swimming
