Ace sports journalist, host of Adom TV’s most popular sports program Fire for Fire, and Asante Kotoko management team member, Patrick Osei Agyeman, popularly known in the media space as Countryman Songo, on his program, questioned the Ghana football association and the sports ministry.
Songo inquired about the appointment of the new black star coach Chris Houghton, and two other assistant coaches, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani and George Boateng, to lead the black stars.
The three appointed coaches were also the technical advisor to Otto Addo who recently exited the Black Stars after the abysmal performance of the team in the Qatar World Cup 2022
His agitations follow the announcement made by the GFA on their appointment of the new black star’s leadership without any transparency.
He asserted in his presentation that the ministry and the GFA appointment authority had not provided Chris Houghton’s contract detail to Ghanaians.
He questioned what are the coach’s responsibilities, targets, and goals set out by the association to govern the coach’s appointment.
“Who will foot the accommodation bill of the new coach and where he’s supposed to leave the team?” Songo quizzed.
He even went deeper by asking what the agreed salary was and what allowances were to be paid to the coach.
In his final submissions, he said “why should the GFA and the sports ministry hide details about the coach’s appointment, they are repeating the same mistake they did in AFCON and the world cup, there is no transparency in what the FA does with taxpayers money, the ordinary Ghanaian wants to know what went into the contract”
