On December 14, 2023, Mustapha Ussif, the Member of Parliament for the people of Yagaba Kubori and the Minister for Youth and Sports, took the stage on behalf of the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo. This special occasion followed a previous presentation to the Medeama Soccer Club, during which Ussif had the honor of presenting a generous GH¢1 million check to the Member of Parliament for Takwa Nsuem, Hon. George Mireku Duker.
The money was handed over in fulfillment of President Nana Akufo-Addo’s pledge to Medeama SC for their outstanding achievements during the 2022/23 league season. The club not only clinched the league title but also secured a coveted spot in the prestigious CAF Champions League, showcasing the best of Ghanaian football on the field.
Mustapha Ussif, acting as the emissary for President Nana Akufo-Addo, symbolized the government’s recognition and appreciation for the Medeama Soccer Club’s remarkable performance. The GH¢1 million contribution is not only a financial boost for the club but also a testament to the commitment of the government to support and encourage excellence in sports.
The ceremony marked a moment of pride and celebration for both the Medeama Soccer Club and the Tarkwa Nsuem constituency. Hon. George Mireku Duker, representing the constituency, graciously received the substantial donation, expressing gratitude for the government’s commitment to promoting sports and recognizing the efforts of athletes.
This gesture goes beyond monetary support; it underscores the importance of sports in national development and highlights the government’s dedication to nurturing talent and fostering a culture of achievement in the sporting arena. The financial injection from President Nana Akufo-Addo serves as a motivation for Medeama SC to continue its outstanding performance on both local and international stages.
