Private legal practitioner, Ace Anan Ankomah, has begun steps to enforce the GH¢2.95 million defamation judgment he secured against social media commentator Kevin Ekow Baidoo Taylor in February 2020.

The move follows an Order for Substituted Service granted by the Accra High Court, allowing Mr Ankomah to serve Kevin Taylor with the Entry of Judgment and Penal Notice via a one-time half-page publication in the Daily Graphic. The notice was published on Saturday, August 2, 2025, marking the official service of the judgment.

Mr Ankomah had sued Taylor and his media firm, Loud Silence Media, in 2019, demanding GH¢10 million in damages for defamatory remarks made on Taylor’s online show, “With All Due Respect.” In one of the episodes, Taylor alleged that Mr Ankomah was involved in a scheme with a Dubai-based minerals firm and members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to destroy the CEO of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah (NAM1).

On February 24, 2020, the court, presided over by Justice Kweku T. Ackaah-Boafo, found the allegations to be malicious and damaging, awarding Mr Ankomah GH¢2 million in general damages, GH¢500,000 in aggravated damages, GH¢400,000 in exemplary damages, and GH¢50,000 in costs. The court also issued perpetual and mandatory injunctions, compelling Taylor to remove the offending content and publish an apology within 14 days.

The judge described Taylor’s conduct as “cavalier, malevolent, and egregious”, noting that although he portrayed himself as bold online, he failed to appear in court to defend his claims. The court also asserted jurisdiction because the defamatory videos were intended for and widely consumed in Ghana, where Mr Ankomah resides and works.

With Taylor recently back in the jurisdiction, Mr Ankomah is moving to recover the judgment sum and enforce the court’s orders, bringing the high-profile defamation case closer to resolution.
