President Nana Akufo-Addo is optimistic that Ghana will reach greater heights this year because according to the president “there is a growing sense of confidence that, with hard work and determination, the country will achieve a lot,”
In his New Year message to the nation, emphasized a nationalist talking point that with hard work and determination, we the people of Ghana can work out the solutions to our numerous problems.

What stands out in the new year’s message is not his admonition to ensure that we protect our elections and maintain our status as a beacon of democracy on the continent—that’s a given for a statesman. What stands out is the fact that the president proves he’s listening, not just to his party people but genuine neutrals, entrepreneurs and young people when he says there’s a growing sense of confidence in our ability to turn things around.
Many Ghanaians are coming around to the idea that with hard work and determination, the development that has eluded us for so long will be easy to attain.

Generally, young people are beginning to shun the notion that there’s more to success than hard work, determination and razor-sharp focus—and that’s a good thing.
