Proverbs 11:2 is one of my favourite verses. It reads: “When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.”
There was no trouble for man in Eden until Adam and Eve sinned. It was their sin that ruined them. Their disobedience to God ushered into all manner of afflictions, including sickness and death.
Since the fall of Adam, man has refused to repent genuinely and go back to God in humility and obedience. Instead, we have become prideful. We have pushed God aside and have become “gods” to ourselves and others. Our pride is our ruin.
It is about time we realized that all troubles in this world have “sin” as its origin. “Pride” is a great sin before God. A prideful person cannot obtain the grace of God. The whole world has become prideful and you are still wondering why we are suffering.
Even the church has become extremely prideful. No wonder, we have become so powerless. Instead of banishing sickness, sickness is driving us away and robbing us of peace and places to worship. It is time to repent. Let us humble ourselves and ask God for mercy so he can anoint us afresh to destroy the works of darkness like the apostles of old did.
The Apostles of old walked in power. Nothing stood in their way. God performed great signs and wonders through them. When they mentioned the name of Jesus, things happened. They feared no one. They told politicians the truth and confronted religious leaders who misled people. God stood by them in all situations.
But our case is different. We have become powerless because of our pride. Sin has robbed us of God’s glory. We have no respect for God. How can we have His power work through us?
Most pastors today have become one with politicians. They have become even more corrupt than politicians. They lie and cheat and dupe the very flock they are to shepherd. Money has become their god. That’s why they have become powerless. Today, many are hiding behind TVs and the internet asking for tithe and offering. But they are afraid of one plague. Shame on us.
Politicians are no different. All of them are afraid. Everyone is hiding from the same plague. They are all confused. But they have the power to shed blood to remain in power to do evil. If you tell them the truth, they destroy you. Now, they are hiding from Covid-19.
Truth be told, the world has failed herself. Man cannot help himself. What is happening in the world now is proof of how helpless man is when real trouble appears.
Where are the authorities forcing Pastors to join man and man, woman and woman in holy matrimony?
Where are those who said our children should not be taught about God in schools?
Where are those who have passed laws to legalize abortions?
Where are those killing people in the name “gods” they claim to serve?
You destroy humans created by God because you have power.
You legalize homosexuality because you have power.
You punish those who stand against evil because you have power.
You sponsor wars to destroy people, all because you have power.
But now, you are hiding in a little corner like a “whipped puppy” because of one small plague.
Mr. Superman and Mrs. Superwoman, why are you hiding? Why are you crying? What happened to the power you have been using to cause pain to others?
Have you become powerless? You still occupy the same office that gave you the power to do all that evil. Therefore, stop hiding. This is the time to use your power to save yourself and others.
But if you cannot do so, then humble yourselves and give God the honor. Respect his commandments and have peace.
World leaders, billionaires, pastors, scientists and all the people who claim to have money and power, have your power, knowledge and money helped you? The answer is no.
The atheists who say there is no God, has your unbelief helped you? The answer is no.
African leaders, who are busy borrowing money in the name of the nation and stealing the same to enrich yourselves, have the monies you have stolen and hidden away in Europe whilst your people can’t afford drinking water helped you?
Prosperity pastors, why are you hiding? What happened to your powers and wealth? Your private jets are now useless. You are even afraid to get into them. What is the gain?
Where are you Pastors who glory in big titles, those who call themselves “Generals”?
The Apostle Generals, Major Prophets, Bishops, Archbishops, Reverend Drs, Right and Wrong Reverends, Reverend and Very Reverend, Most Reverends, His Lordships, and His Holinesses, where are you all? All of you who glory in unnecessary titles are now hiding. Why? What happened to the powers you claim to have?
We have all seen our nakedness and helplessness. God alone is the answer. Our Lord Jesus Christ alone is the answer to all problems. Without him, all of us are empty barrels.
