Being on the silver screen or blessing the microphone has always been something to cherish until now. Celebrities of all shades and sizes are readjusting their fame in order to practice social distancing in order to stay safe from contracting the dreaded virus as advised by the World Health Organization.
Nigerian screen goddess, Monalisa Chinda Coker says just today at the airport, a fan came to hug her. She had to politely decline and ask her to take a selfie instead. It’s not as if selfies are any safer but it goes to show how hard it’s going to be for famous people to stay safe.
It’s not surprising therefore that Prince Charles got infected with the virus considering the caliber of people his status forces him to meet and possibly greet.
Already certain famous people have contracted and died of COVID-19. Some too have seen only mild symptoms and others are in ICU units around the world.
Star power can be intriguing in that, one may give out a hug or shake a hand before realizing it. It is important that security detail around famous people add to their itinerary, the job of stopping handshakes, hugs or any form of touching while in public. This is not the time for optics and public relations, it is the time to politely stay safe.
