The issue of Beyoncé, the Illuminati, and whether there’s a cabal of powerful people secretly controlling world events will be debated till eternity, what we don’t need to debate till eternity is Bey’s costume for her video with Ghana’s dancehall king, Shatta Wale.
In the Already video, Beyoncé dorns a cow-skin dress and horns with a disc while smoking a very long pipe. The dress is in controversy on Twitter because someone sought to revive the Beyoncé-Illuminati conspiracy theory once again.
Am I the only one still paying attention to the details of the baphomet and satanic symbols Beyoncé portrays on her outfits? #BlackIsKing #BlackJoy pic.twitter.com/hnl29ffaCn

Well, another Twitter user who appears to have superior knowledge in the significance of Bey’s choice of costume explained that the dress is an allusion to a goddess of ancient Kemet (Egypt) by name Hathor.
That was the sun disk and the bull horn… The headdress of Hathor of Ancient Kemet(Egypt).
Our culture, history and spirituality is very dynamic, ask and be taught please. pic.twitter.com/eTxOm9ufhw

The disc on top of Bey’s cow horns is called sun disc. It was on Hathor’s head a long time ago and obviously Beyoncé is alluding to that in the video that has garnered six million views in two days.
Of course, this does not in any way absorb Beyoncé of the Illuminati tag, not that she wants to get rid of the tag but it shows that there’s a lot about African culture that we still don’t know and have to learn or be taught.
It is the case that many artists, spiritualists, businessmen, and what have you come down to Africa and take things from the continent and appropriate for their good while those of us here still don’t know what value those things have.
American musicians have being appropriating ancient Egypt for years and using those themes in their videos which go on to have worldwide appeal, maybe it’s time to understand the thinking behind it and have our local stars tap into it.
Kudos to Shatta Wale for this feat.
