The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have warned the general public of the spate of impersonating its highly respected institution by a section of Ghanaians in recent times.
The rank and file of the military have expressed worry over the use of its military galleria by some civilians parading as military men seen in videos and pictures on social media defrauding innocent Ghanaians and involved in car snatching syndicates.
A video that went viral on social media saw a man in a military camouflage uniform arrested for snatching a 2012 Toyota Camry vehicle from its owner at gunpoint.
According to acting Director of Public Relations, Commander Andy La-Anyane, claims on social media that a military officer was involved in the robbery incident was false.
The Armed Forces also assured the public of collaborating with the Ghana Police Service to unravel the source of the military uniforms in the incident and stop the unauthorized sale of military uniforms across the country.
The Ghana police service has, on its part, arrested all suspects captured in the video and commenced an investigation into the matter.
