Microsoft announced on Wednesday that it was looking into a networking issue that affected several services, including Teams and Outlook. According to reports of outages, the platforms were unavailable to thousands of customers throughout the world.
Microsoft withheld information about how many customers were impacted by the outage, but statistics from the website that tracks outages, Downdetector, revealed more than 3,900 instances in India and more than 900 in Japan. Australia, Britain, and the United Arab Emirates all saw an increase in outage reports.
Microsoft stated in a tweet that it has “discovered a potential networking issue and is evaluating telemetry to determine the next troubleshooting steps.”
The networking issue was also mentioned on Twitter by Microsoft’s cloud division Azure, which added that certain customers were having issues with the platform.
Most users were unable to send and receive messages, participate in calls, or utilize any Teams program functions during the outage. The hashtag #MicrosoftTeams was trending on Twitter as a result of the large number of individuals who used the social media platform to share updates about the service outage.
With more than 280 million users worldwide, Microsoft Teams is an essential part of corporate and educational operations. Teams users utilize the service to make calls, arrange meetings, and manage their workflow.
