In a significant development for Ghana’s cocoa sector, efforts to enhance traceability have received a substantial boost. The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has unveiled comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures and a detailed training guide that will span from farm to port in the cocoa supply chain.
These newly established guidelines are poised to revolutionize the tracing process of cocoa production, ensuring transparency and accountability every step of the way. As part of this initiative, COCOBOD staff is gearing up for an ambitious training program that aims to educate over 800,000 supply chain actors.
The comprehensive training program is a crucial step towards achieving the goal of making Ghana’s cocoa fully traceable by December 2024. The move aligns with global efforts to enhance sustainability and ethical practices in the cocoa industry.
This strategic endeavor not only reinforces Ghana’s commitment to responsible cocoa production but also empowers the numerous actors involved in the supply chain with the knowledge and tools needed to contribute to a transparent and sustainable cocoa industry.
