A press statement from the Kwahu Traditional Council, this year’s Kwahu Easter Celebration has been put on hold until further notice. The statement is based on a bit of advice from a team put together by the President of the Kwahu Traditional Council, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II.
“Upon lengthy discussions and consultations with the team yesterday…Daasebre advises that in order to curtail the spread of the virus: all natives of Kwahu who currently live outside Kwahu, should endeavor to stay wherever they may be.” parts of the statement read.
Currently, Kwahu has a large population of senior citizens, a fact not lost on Daasebre and his team, so their advice is in line with calls by the WHO to protect the people who are most vulnerable to COVID-19—senior citizens and people with preexisting health conditions.
The Kwahu Easter and Paragliding Festival has been a growing annual phenomenon. The events have seen an upsurge in attendance in recent history especially since the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Arts decided to add paragliding to the music-heavy events that characterized the festivities.
Ghana as at Thursday stands at one hundred and thirty-two (132) cases of COVID-19 with three (3) deaths from official sources.
