The family of Ghanaian actress Beverly Afaglo has announced arrangements for her funeral rites to be held in two countries, beginning in the United States before final ceremonies in Ghana.

According to the family, the first part of the funeral will take place on August 1, 2026, in Laurel, Maryland, USA, where close relatives and members of the diaspora community are expected to gather for the initial rites.

The second and final phase of the funeral is scheduled to be held in Ghana on August 7, 2026, where the wider family, friends, and the public will participate in the concluding traditional ceremonies.

The family explained that the decision to begin the rites in the United States was influenced by the fact that some immediate relatives, including her husband and sisters, are based in the country, making it culturally appropriate for mourning to begin within that community before the final burial rites in Ghana.

It is a common practice among members of the African diaspora to hold portions of funeral ceremonies abroad, allowing friends and loved ones who reside outside their home countries to participate in mourning and celebration of life.

The final Ghana ceremony is expected to bring together extended family members, colleagues, and well-wishers to pay their last respects in line with tradition.
