“After 3 years, sex can become routine and boring” — Stephanie Benson

UK-based Ghanaian musician Stephanie Benson has opened up about the realities of long-term marriage, urging couples to make deliberate efforts to maintain excitement and connection in their relationships.

The singer, who has been married for 37 years, said familiarity can sometimes affect intimacy between partners if they do not intentionally create new experiences together.

In a video shared on social media, Stephanie Benson said some couples begin to notice changes in their romantic relationships after the early years of marriage, as routines gradually set in.

“There are some topics about marriage that men don’t want to hear and women don’t want to say, but I am going to say it to you. Those who are married, have you realised that after two or three years, sex becomes boring and not fun? Because you have seen the same private part for so long, it becomes a usual routine. And it’s boring,” she said.

The musician explained that couples can address such challenges by being intentional about keeping their relationships engaging and finding ways to reconnect with each other.

She revealed that she and her husband have, at different points, planned special moments together as part of efforts to maintain closeness throughout their marriage.

Stephanie Benson also encouraged couples to continue making an effort in their appearance and personal connection, stressing that maintaining attraction and understanding requires commitment from both partners.

She advised spouses to communicate openly about their needs and explore healthy ways of strengthening their relationships over time.

The ‘Go to Girl’ hitmaker said long-lasting marriages require continuous effort, creativity, and a willingness to adapt as couples grow together.
