Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has recalled Parliament from recess for a five-day sitting to consider urgent parliamentary business.

The recall will begin on Monday, August 24, and continue until Friday, August 28, at Parliament House in Accra.

The directive was issued by the Speaker on Wednesday, August 12, in accordance with Order 58(4) of the Standing Orders of the Parliament of Ghana.

Speaker Bagbin recalls Parliament for five-day sitting from August 24

In the directive, Speaker Bagbin exercised the power granted to him under the Standing Orders to recall Parliament notwithstanding the recess.

The notice states that Parliament will sit from 12 noon on Monday, August 24, with proceedings continuing through Friday, August 28.

The Speaker said the recall had been necessitated by the need for Parliament to consider urgent parliamentary business, although the notice did not specify the particular matters to be dealt with during the sitting.
