Multiple award-winning musician Ofori Amponsah has revealed that he knew his hit song Odo Nwom would become successful from the very first day it was recorded.
The musician, in a recent interview, said the reaction of the people who were present in the studio after listening to the first recording gave him the confidence that they had created something special.
“We can tell as musicians if we are recording a song and the song will blow up,” he said.
According to Ofori Amponsah, the atmosphere in the studio immediately after recording Odo Nwom convinced him that the song had the potential to become a major hit.
“With Odo Nwom, the very first day we recorded the song, and we sat back to listen, the feeling and reaction of the people in the room with me just gave me the zeal that the song would blow,” he stated.
He said the success of the song subsequently transformed his career, creating opportunities and opening doors for him within the music industry.
“The song has opened so many doors for me,” he said.
Ofori Amponsah also recalled that the song was initially associated with fellow musician Kofi Nti by some members of the public, with some believing that Kofi Nti was the artiste behind the song while Ofori Amponsah served only as its executive producer.
“Initially, most people thought the song was by Kofi Nti and I was the executive producer,” he explained.
Despite the initial confusion over its ownership, Odo Nwom went on to win several awards and significantly raise Ofori Amponsah’s profile.
“The song won many awards and it opened lots of doors for me. ‘Odo Nwom’ is a great song,” he added.
