Idris Elba has explained in a video how he got tested for Covid-19 after realizing he was exposed to someone who had also tested positive. He added that he self-quarantined after finding out about the other person’s results and also got tested.
“It sucks,” he admitted. “Look, this is serious. Now’s the time to really think about social distancing, washing your hands. Beyond that, there are people out there who are not showing symptoms that could easily spread it. So now’s a real-time to be really vigilant about washing your hands and keeping your distance.”
Another star, Game of Thrones’ Kristofer Hivju, an actor best known for embodying the renowned warrior (and admirer of Brienne of Tarth) Tormund Giantsbane also posted on Instagram about his positive coronavirus test.
“Sorry to say that I, today, have tested positive for COVID19, Coronavirus.”
In a caption of a photo of himself and wife Gry Molvær Hivju, he continued: “My (family) and I are self-isolating at home for as long as it takes. We are in good health – I only have mild symptoms of a cold.”
Hivju also emphasized the fact that people should be looking to protect themselves and others.
Elba said his wife, Sabrina, who was in the video alongside him, had not yet been tested.
“She’s doing OK,” he added. “We’ve told our families, they’re very supportive. We’ve told our colleagues. Transparency is probably the best thing for this right now. If you’re feeling ill or feel like you should be tested or you’ve been exposed, do something about it. It’s really important.”
