President John Dramani Mahama is expected to cut sod on Thursday, August 27, 2026, for the construction of a new multi-tiered, multi-purpose car park and airport hotels complex at the Accra International Airport.
The project is expected to significantly transform the airport’s infrastructure and provide additional parking, hospitality, commercial and leisure facilities for passengers and visitors.
At the centre of the development will be a seven-storey car park with more than 2,000 parking bays, designed to address growing demand for parking space at the airport.

The complex will also feature two hotels, providing accommodation for travellers and other airport users.
A pedestrian connector linking the development to the airport terminal is also planned, offering a more convenient connection between the facilities and the terminal.
Beyond parking and accommodation, the project will include a shopping mall, a sky lounge and an aircraft-viewing sky observatory, adding commercial and recreational attractions to the airport environment.
The sod-cutting ceremony by President Mahama is expected to mark the formal commencement of the project, which is aimed at enhancing the passenger experience while expanding the commercial potential of the Accra International Airport.
