The Queenmother of Fruit Sellers at Bohyeba Market, Beatrice Sowah, has raised concerns over the alleged use of chemicals meant for preserving dead bodies to revive rotten fish for sale to unsuspecting consumers.
Speaking on Adom TV’s Dwaso Nsem, Sowah alleged that some fishmongers and market women apply such chemicals to deteriorated fish in an attempt to restore their appearance and make them look fresh enough to sell.
According to her, the practice poses a serious food safety concern, as consumers may unknowingly purchase and eat fish that has already gone bad.
