The Latest Injury Updates Impacting Fantasy Football Tight Ends
Here are the latest injury updates for Brock Bowers, George Kittle, Tucker Kraft and other tight ends as 2026 fantasy drafts gain steam.

These notable tight end injury situations warrant fantasy football attention as 2026 drafts heat up. Some players should be ready for Week 1, while others may need managed training camp workloads or even longer recovery timelines. These updates can affect draft cost, early-season usage, and the depth of a position that already comes with limited dependable starters.
Tight End Injury Updates
George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers
Kittle remains on Active/PUP, but his rehabilitation has progressed to extensive conditioning, route running, and pass-catching work on the side. The veteran said on Aug. 17 that he is very confident he will avoid opening the season on Reserve/PUP, although his Week 1 availability remains less certain. Kittle continues targeting the opener while rebuilding strength in his surgically repaired leg. His age and Achilles recovery create considerable risk, so fantasy managers should pair him with another viable starting tight end to cover their bases.

Tucker Kraft, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay activated Kraft from Active/PUP on July 31, and his recovery has continued accelerating since he returned to 11-on-11 work on Aug. 16. Kraft participated in a full-pads practice two days later, absorbed significant contact during team periods, and continued making plays without a reported setback. His rapid progression substantially strengthens his chances of being ready for Week 1. The Packers still can manage his early workload following November ACL surgery, but Kraft’s latest work supports his TE1 fantasy upside.
Sam LaPorta, Detroit Lions
A new hip injury has put LaPorta’s Week 1 availability in question after he already spent much of the offseason recovering from the back problem that ended his 2025 season. The hip became aggravated after he took a hit during practice, prompting Detroit to shut him down and allow the area to calm down. Head coach Dan Campbell expressed optimism on Aug. 20 about LaPorta’s long-term outlook but could not confirm that he will be ready for the regular-season opener. The uncertainty introduces legitimate risk for a tight end carrying a meaningful fantasy draft cost.
Tyler Warren, Indianapolis Colts
A minor groin injury suffered during Indianapolis’ Aug. 19 joint practice with Atlanta is expected to sideline Warren for approximately one week. The second-year tight end left 11-on-11 work after sustaining the injury, but current reporting indicates that the issue should not threaten his availability for the Sept. 13 opener. Warren remains one of the Colts’ most important receiving weapons after catching 76 passes for 817 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie, so fantasy managers should monitor his return without significantly downgrading him.
Kenyon Sadiq, New York Jets
Sadiq remains sidelined following a setback in his recovery from May hernia surgery and still had not returned to practice as of Aug. 19. The first-round rookie has progressed to conditioning work on the side, including riding a stationary bike during practice, and head coach Aaron Glenn continues to expect him to be ready for the regular-season opener. Sadiq’s draft capital and receiving ability give him a path to fantasy utility, but the lengthy absence increases the likelihood of a gradual early-season role.
