NPP fully backs Minority caucus over GoldBod losses scrutiny — Henry Nana Boakye

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has declared its full and unreserved support for its Minority Caucus in Parliament in its ongoing scrutiny of alleged losses involving the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).
Speaking on the matter, NPP National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye said the party’s entire leadership, including its presidential candidate, stands firmly behind the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and every member of the caucus.
He dismissed suggestions of divisions within the party over the issue, insisting that the NPP is united in its support for the Minority’s demands for accountability.
“The entire leadership of the New Patriotic Party, including the presidential candidate, we are fully behind the Minority,” Mr Boakye said.
According to him, the Minority Caucus has the party’s backing to question, scrutinise and demand full transparency regarding the operations of GoldBod and what he described as “huge losses” involving the state institution.
“We back their questions, we back their scrutiny, we back their demand for full transparent account of how a state institution charged with buying and protecting Ghana's gold ended up presiding over such huge losses of this magnitude,” he stated.
Mr Boakye stressed that the NPP’s position should not be viewed merely as partisan politics, arguing that the management of public resources is a national responsibility.
“This is not partisan politics. This is a national duty,” he said, adding that governments are accountable to Ghanaians for public funds entrusted to them.
The NPP National Organiser further urged the Minority Caucus to intensify its parliamentary efforts and use every lawful mechanism available to obtain answers.
He encouraged the caucus to utilise parliamentary questions, committee hearings, requests for documents, order papers, points of order and other tools provided under Parliament’s Standing Orders.
“We are not backing off, not now, not tomorrow, not until every question is answered in full and in public and under proper scrutiny,” Mr Boakye declared.
He also called on the Minority to remain strong both in parliamentary committees and on the floor of the House, while taking the matter to the court of public opinion.
Mr Boakye said the NPP would remain vigilant and urged Ghanaians to also demand answers regarding the alleged losses.
“Our Minority Caucus will not look away. We call on every Ghanaian watching, listening, and reading this today: Do not look away either. Demand your own answers. Demand truth,” he said.
