Africa’s healthcare infrastructure has been terrible since the beginning of time and African leaders and elites always went to Europe, the Americas or lately India for healthcare.
A global pandemic is here to change all that.
Due to the stress developed countries are going through as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, Africa’s high and mighty will have to make do with the healthcare systems and professionals here and for some, it will be almost like a death sentence.
One person who has taken the opportunity to troll our elites for their disregard for the development of the continent hoping that Western exceptionalism will be there for them at all times is veteran Nollywood actor Kate Henshaw.
“Shaay we are all now stuck here with the health infrastructure that was provided/put in place or the lack thereof…”
“It’s good”
“Abroad cancel (No Entry Sign)”
According to the US’ National Center for Biotechnology Information, “Sub-Saharan Africa’s performance on health outcomes remains poor despite Sub-Saharan African nations’ financial commitment, albeit limited, and foreign aid. There is widespread poor service delivery, poor procurement systems marred by mismanagement and corruption, and poor health infrastructure. Many indicators of health outcomes show slow progress in Sub-Saharan Africa.”
This is what our leaders and elites will have to make do with if coronavirus does not recede in the coming weeks or even months.
Many have expressed optimism that this will change the way African leaders across the board view leadership and development.
